In the heart of Kisumu County, Kisumu Girls High School stands as the only national girls’ institution in the region, located in the vibrant Kisumu City. Under the leadership of Chief Principal Madam Akeyo Odhiambo, the school is making significant strides in both academic and extracurricular domains. The administration is dedicated to fostering a holistic educational experience, ensuring that students not only excel in their studies but also develop essential life skills through various activities outside the classroom.

Madam Akeyo has expressed her gratitude towards the Board of Management for their steadfast support, which has been instrumental in the school’s achievements. She also welcomed the newly appointed Student Leadership Council, expressing her confidence in their potential to steer the school towards its ambitious objectives. In a commendable move, the school has launched a program aimed at reaching out to students facing challenges, providing them with the necessary resources to pursue their education without hindrance. This initiative highlights the institution’s commitment to inclusivity and the overall welfare of its students.

During our one on one interview With the chairperson of the Busket of Hope initiative and a Form Four student, expressed her gratitude for the recognition she received from Maisha TV for her outstanding leadership. She promised to continue striving for excellence. Meanwhile, Deputy Principal Madam Jemima emphasized the school’s comprehensive academic offerings, which include 17 subjects taught by a dedicated team of 70 educators. With a rigorous examination schedule in place, the school is focused on maintaining a culture of continuous learning, and Madam Jemima is optimistic that under the guidance of the new Chief Principal, the school will achieve a mean score of over 9 in the upcoming national examinations. The school captain also praised the leadership for their unwavering commitment to creating a nurturing and enriching environment for all students, highlighting the importance of mentorship in their academic journey.

The School Guidance and Counseling Department, led by Mrs. Awuora, has made significant strides in providing guidance and counseling services to the girls to ensure their overall well-being and mental health.

Mrs. Awuora’s leadership has been instrumental in creating a safe and supportive environment for the girls to seek help and guidance whenever needed. The department’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, as they have been successful in addressing various issues affecting the students and providing them with the necessary support.
