Police have commenced investigating the sudden death of a 2-year-old child in Kayole, Nairobi, who died after allegedly being beaten by her parents.
According to neighbours who spoke to Maisha TV, the couple started beating the child after she refused to eat on Monday evening.
The witnesses say the child, who had visible bruises on her body had been rushed to a nearby clinic.
She was then referred to Mama Lucy Hospital, but died before reaching the hospital.
According to the neighbors the woman in the family is the step-mother who was a guardian taking care of the little ones after their mother died.
“They beat up the child for refusing to eat. It wasn’t the first time they did that,” Gladys Wamboi, the couple’s neighbour said.
The parents are detained.
