Estonia President bids Kenya beautiful farewell (pictures)

Estonian president Kersti Kaljulaid left Kenya on Saturday night after a three day official visit.

Kaljulaid was seen off at Jomo Kenyatta International airport by Foreign Affairs CS Raychelle Omamo and Defense CS Monica Juma.

During her visit to Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Estonian leader Kersti Kaljulaid have said Kenya and Estonia will partner in championing for the protection of multilateralism on the global stage.

They said the system guarantees fairness and justice in the global stage, and vowed to use the two countries non-permanent membership on the UN Security Council to jointly advance multilateralism.

President Kenyatta and his guest spoke on Thursday evening at State House, Nairobi, during a cocktail party held in honour of the visiting Estonian leader.

President Kenyatta said Kenya🇰🇪 and Estonia🇪🇪 had agreed to work together in pursuit of common goals such as regional and global peace, climate change and the gender agenda.

On Saturday, 11 September 2021, The International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) hosted H.E Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Republic of Estonia in her capacity as the Global United Nations Global Advocate for Every Woman Every Child. H.E Kersti Kaljulaid was received by IPSTC Director, Brigadier Joyce Sitienei alongside the Cabinet Secretary of Defence Dr. Amb. Monica Juma and the Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi.

During her speech delivery, Director IPSTC exemplified the key role that the Centre continues to play in enhancing regional peace and security through training, research and education. Over the years, the Centre, through its Gender policy has integrated gender mainstreaming with an annual average of 33% of its military, police and civilian participants being females.

H.E. Kersti Kaljulaid reaffirmed the United Nations efforts in addressing major challenges faced by women, children and adolescents through Every Woman Every Child global movement. “When women and children are lost, generations are lost. That is why their security is of importance,” she said.

The event culminated with a tree planting exercise by H. E. Kersti Kaljulaid led by Dr. Amb. Monica Juma and Brigadier Joyce Sitienei.

Estonian president Kersti Kaljulaid on Saturday showed her prowess as she ran a distance of 10km at Karura Forest.

Kaljulaid was accompanied by Kenyan marathoners including Douglas Wakiihuri, Tegla Loroupe, and Catherine Ndereba.

In the pictures shared by the foreign affairs ministry, the Estonian president was seen exercising after a run at the forest.

The president of the Republic of Estonia, Her Excellency Kersti Kaljulaid visited Nairobi National Park and David Sheldrick Orphanage this afternoon.

She was received by KWS, Director Parks Prof Charles Musyoki where she had an opportunity to feed orphaned elephants and learn more about wildlife conservation in Kenya.
