A disturbing incident involving form four candidates from Matungulu Boys High who walked out of school claiming that they are tired of studying has shocked Kenyans.
At least 80 students allegedly walked out of the school on Wednesday evening leaving behind only 36 students. It’s reportedly recorded that the walkout had no riot-drama and that earlier, the scholars had boycotted meals during the day.
In an interview with journalists, the students stated that they were tired of the school’s administration which they claimed was very strict.
Joseph Makau, the school principal condemned the boycott terming the act as gross misconduct. He also revealed that before the closure of schools as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, some students had been on counseling due to drug abuse.
“Those who walked out of the school are suffering from ‘freestyle’ kind of living where they don’t want to adhere to basic regulations for conducive learning. We will remain firm and as a school, we will not entertain any indiscipline that threatens smooth learning.” Makau said.
UPDATE: Both the Guardians of the students and the school administration have talked and solution for the way forward is under way.
