Former kakamega Senator Bony Khalwale has again criticized Odinga over what he termed as a factor in government responsible for the fall of Country’s GDP.
“In his first term as PORK, President Kibaki presided over a robust growth of our economy (peaking at 7.2%)
Enter Raila Odinga in the grand coalition & the GDP growth nosedived.
President Uhuru was doing quite well until…” He posted on social media
Former PM Raila Odinga said the March 2018 handshake was meant to restore stability, deepen the reform process and restore prosperity and probity in the country’s governance.
In the recent past, Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga have been struggling to shake off Jubilee burdens while also hanging on to its credits in a bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The blame game has been the mudplay for both UDA and ODM footmen. The Ruto-led group had accused ODMof hijacking the government’s agenda resulting in a mismanaged economy leading to rising public debt.
Contrary to UDA’s claim, ODM’s secretary general Edwin Sifuna said Jubilee’s Big Four Agenda was progressing smoothly only that the DP is not part of the agenda.
About the Ruto economic plan, the Raila Odinga-led party said that if he was genuine, Ruto would have implemented the bottom-up approach during Jubilee’s first term when he was largely in control of government agenda.
“The President extended tanga tanga and their leader a lot of leeway in Jubilee’s first term, which they could very well have used to implement this so-called bottom-up approach but which they instead saw as an opportunity to loot, grab, and basically run the country into the ground,” Sifuna said.
