A shouting match erupted at the Bomas of Kenya auditorium on Saturday night at around 11 pm prompting antibriot police to intervene to restore calm.
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance’s agents clashed with their counterparts from Kenya Kenya accusing them of trying to alter the results.
According to reports, the AZIMIO LA UMOJA one Kenya coalition claimed that an unnamed IEBC commissioner who was supposed to present at the Bomas of Kenya was missing.
The coalition claimed that the commissioner was holed up in a meeting witg the Kenya Kwanza leaders outside of Bomas of Kenya.
The matter escalated quickly to pointing out the unknown IEBC official sitted at the verification arena whom the coalition claimed was an intruder.
Shortly, Azimio la umoja Women rep candidate Esther Passaris walked into the IEBC verification and tallying arena form 34A and 34B, singled out onevIEBC official and forcefully rejected him.
During the scuffle, a man in a cap could be seen snatching what looked likeba phone gadget from the official, tried to put it in his own left side pocket but eventually passed it on to an unknown lady wearing a cap.
The official was escorted out by the police.
The matter prompted IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati to convene a meeting with chief party agents of tge Presidential candidates and other high ranking IEBC officials at around 2:00am on Sunday.
Earlier, there were incidents of disruptions and shouting matches between two leading coalition parties Azimio la Umoja one Kenya coalition led by Raila Odinga and Kenya Kwanza alliance led by William Ruto.
In the incident, Chaos erupted shortly after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials announced results for some of the constituencies whose votes had been verified.
“Mwizi, mwizi,” Azimio agents shouted at Kithure Kindiki, Kipchumba Murkomen and other Kenya Kwanza agents demanding that they shouldn’t move close to the tables where vote verification and tallying were happening.
Anti-riot police were ultimately called in to restore calm and separate members of the two political factions who were about to fight each other.
The heavy contingent of anti-riot police remained inside the Bomas auditorium to maintain peace as IEBC continued with the tallying of votes from different constituencies.
The matter forced IEBC to set fresh house orders to bar non agents and non-accredited persons from accessing the verification arena.
