CS Amina Mohamed blamed for Omanyala’s woes

On Sunday 17, Kenyans were up in arm with sports cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed, accusing the ministry of sports for failing Kenyan athletes.

After Ferdinand Omanyala was knocked out, Kenyans directed their anger towards Sports ministry and the CS citing high end corruption at the expense of sportsmen and women.

They argued that in the case of Ferdinand Omanyala, he failed to qualify for the 100m finals due to jetlag that is worse on the second day caused by failure by sports ministry to give traveling priority to Omanyala and other athletes.

Omanyala finished 5th in heat 3 of the semis 2022 World Athletics Championships in 10:14 seconds in Oregon USA on Sunday.

His visa was delayed until 24 hours to the event after it emerged that the ministry had sent 32 joyrides to the USA at the expense of athletes.

It is alleged that Amina’s daughter Firyal was among the joyrides who flew out of the country 5 days to the event in place of Omanyala.

A few hours ago, Firyal had shared a video having a good time in the USA.

In particular, an image went viral of Omanyala posing with CS Amina Mohamed’s daughter, Firyal Al Hossain. She was captured with a tag titled Guest, with a red jacket and a Kenyan flag emblem on it. 

The hashtag #AminaMohamed trended for the better part of Sunday morning, July 17, as the image drew the attention of netizens who alleged that the CS’s kin was part of the entourage that travelled to Oregon in the place of Omanyala.

Hossain posted the image on her social media profile and captioned it: Congratulations to the King of Africa and the fastest man on the continent – Ferdinand Omanyala. During the KipKeino Classic, Omanyala defeated his opponents, clocking 9.85 seconds in the men’s 100 metres.

Another spot check on Hossain’s profile revealed that she had travelled to Zanzibar, Tanzania on June 6, 2022, before heading to Brooklyn, New York on June 19, 2022.

Among the places she toured include Chinatown, Cara Hotel and 30 Rockefeller Plaza. On Saturday, July 16, Hossain was pictured in Hamptons located on Long Island, New York.

WHO IS FIRYAL NUR AL HOSSAIN

Firyal Nur Al Hossain is a fashion guru, model and businesswoman. She is a daughter to Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed and late businessman Khalid Hossain Ahmed.

The young model is based in the United States where she works as a fashion expert and runs her own clothing line.

Being a child of famous and prominent parents, Nur has led her life away from the Kenyan public eye, and created a success path for herself.

Nur was at one time rumored to be dating President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son Muhoho Kenyatta who is also a fashion enthusiast.

OMANYALA WOES

African record holder Ferdinand Omanyala got his VISA to the United States late Thursday. He jetted out of the country few minutes past 6 pm, travelled for almost 22 hours, arrived in US to participate in the Oregon World Championships 3 hours to the start

It takes not less than 22 hours to get to the US and the champion needed to rest and train shortly to cure jet lag before taking on the race.

The Kenyan 26-year old qualified for the World Championships early after clocking 9/85secs to win the Kip Keino Classic. At the National Trials, he clocked 10.04secs under heavy wind, but still ran within the qualifying time.

Omanyala’s visa saga also attracted the attention of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who launched investigations into the delay. 

“It definitely shocks me. This is a disgrace not only to the nation but to the entire globe, and we will not allow it,” Kinoti stated.
