The pronouncement of Biden’s 306-232 victory over Trump essentially ends the superlative and intensely controversial effort by Trump and his supremacists to overturn the results of the 2020 election
Defeated US President Donald Trump finally concedes. The ousted US president immediately released a statement promising an “orderly transition” but suggesting he would still participate in active politics, amid speculation that he may run again in 2024.
“We’ve just been through an intense election and emotions are high. But now tempers must be cooled and calm restored. We must get on with the business of America…A new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th. My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power. This moment calls for healing and reconciliation.” Trump said
This happened immediately congress formally certified Joe Biden as next US President Thursday dealing a political death blow to Trump whose supporters stormed US Capitol in an effort to overturn Biden’s win hours earlier, triggering unprecedented scenes of mayhem in the seat of American democracy.
