Former Sports Cabinet Secretary, Hassan Wario, has been sentenced to a six year jail term after he was found guilty of abuse of office.
Magistrate Elizabeth Juma, while sentencing the former CS, Thursday, September 16, noted that Wario and his co-accused used their positions in contradiction of the law.
He was, however, given an option to pay a Ksh3.6 million fine failure to which he will serve the jail term.

Anti-corruption magistrate Elizabeth Juma on Wednesday found Wario guilty of willfully failing to comply with applicable procedures and guidelines relating to management of public funds.
The court also found that the former minister abused his office by unlawfully adding three people to the list of Team Kenya.
Wario included three persons; Monica Sairo, Richard Abura and Edan Adow, who earned allowances not entitled to them.
He was, however, acquitted on the charge of engaging in a project without planning. The project was the Rio Olympics.
Stephen Soi who was also found guilty will be held at the Gigiri Police Station alongside Wario until Thursday pending mitigation and sentencing.
Other accused persons including Former PS Richard Ekai were acquitted over lack of sufficient evidence.
