Gloria Toywa, the wife to the late Abel Timona Kachu has penned down an excruciatingly painful post regarding the death of her husband and father to her children.
The sad thing about death is that Sometimes, only one person is missing, but the whole world seems depopulated, you wake up to feel your loved one on the bed only to find them missing. The worst is knowing that you lost your loved one due to the carelessness of a “blind” Lorry driver.
Still in mourning, she has shared a touching message, reminiscing about her empty heart, broken marriage, and anger of losing a loving and caring husband whose life was cut short through an avoidable grisly road accident.
She now struggles to come to terms with the untimely death of her husband caused by a careless lorry driver.
Kachu as popularly known passed on, on Friday 25, in a road crash along Nairobi – Nakuru highway near Greensteads Academy.
According to the heartfelt message she posted on her Facebook wall, on the fateful day her husband passed away, she wanted to face the lorry driver who only escaped the tragedy with minor injuries.
“To the driver of the lorry that hit and killed my Kachu on the spot,
I purposed to visit you at Nakuru PGH that 26th morning when I came to collect Kachu…I knew you were there, minor injuries here and there…
That day had I found you, sijui, maybe I would have gone numb or maybe over reacted.Lucky the police protected you, wakasema ulitoroka (Police said uou ran away)…
Whoever and wherever you are, I hope you get to read this some day.” She wrote
She reminded the Lorry driver of the pain of a wife being widowed at 32 years and her children rendered fatherless before reaching 9 years.
“If you have a wife, would you ever imagine her being a widow at 31yrs?just a week to her 32nd birthday?
If you have children,my 1st is barely 9yrs..would you ever think of your own being orphaned at that age?” She added
She also stated that she may not know the circumstances under which the accident happened, but she watched the accident videos and saw clearly that the lorry driver hit the shuttle van that carried her husband on the driver’s side. The passenger sitted behind the driver was her husband Kachu.
“That behind the driver was my husband. His seat had to be removed for his lifeless body to be pulled off…his left shoe brown in color still remains stuck in the vehicle…Were you drunk? were you tired? were you on your phone? What just happened is all I want to know from you….” part of the post read.
The pain of a wife losing her husband is more than normal grief and Gloria made it clear that the Lorry Driver killed her husband.
“You killed my husband while he was going to make dowry plans for me, widowed me and orphaned my children…does this give you sleep at night?
I saw my husband and his eyes were still open,so he saw you…maybe screamed or shouted or called my name…I don’t know, but he saw you hit him…I witnessed his post moterm and you hurt him.You crashed his ribs, his lungs, his liver, spleen and every bone in his body…does this give you sleep at night?”
Trying to figure out how she can forgive the culprit, Gloria’s post on whether she can forgive the lorry driver makes it clear.
“I pray that one day I am able to forgive you…my husband was a careful driver, did not have to die because of your recless driving.
Until I can forgive you….do you get sleep at night?because I do not.” She wrote
Nakuru East OCS Elena Kabukuru confirmed the death and said six people perished when a trailer collided with a North Rift shuttle nissan.
Until his death, Kachu was PA and senior reseacher to Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala. Prior to this he served as a Programme Manager, Sama All and also Program Officer, HIV/AIDS and behavioural change at Youth Initiative Kenya (Yike).
