Presidential Debate Secretariat announced 19th July 2022 as date for the 2022 Deputy Presidential debates series to take place at Catholic University of East Africa, Main Campus, Karen, Nairobi from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
The debates will run in two tiers. First tier will comprise of Deputy Presidential candidates whose popularity rate stands below 5% basing on the last three opinion polls. While the second tier will be of the candidates whose popularity ratings rank above 5%.
The first tier debate will be moderated by Linda Alela of TV 47 and John Jacob of KBC.
The second tier debate will be moderated by Sophia Wanuna of KTN and James Smart of NTV.
According to the Presidential Debate 2022 organizers, the moderators have been selected through a rigorous process that among other things endear the principles of impartiality, fairness, and objectivity, a strong understanding of Kenyan political landscape and the major issues of election.
As a rule, the moderators will select questions for the candidates and shall not share the same with them. They will not meet with their campaign teams or the candidates.
