The death of Starlet Wahu, the sister of Pastor Kanyari, is currently under investigation by police officers at the Industrial Area Police Station in Nairobi.
Wahu’s lifeless body was discovered in an apartment located in Nairobi’s South B area after authorities responded to a distress call.
The scene revealed a gruesome sight, with the victim covered in blood and displaying multiple bruises and stab wounds, indicating a violent struggle.
The apartment contained various items, including HIV testing kits, used condoms, a bloodstained knife, the victim’s clothing, and a phone.
Detectives are diligently working to gather more evidence surrounding the events that transpired on the fatal night, seeking to understand the motive behind the suspect, John Matara, booking the Airbnb space and the relationship between him and Wahu.
“Investigations are on going to determine his motive for booking the apartment, taking the woman there and doing what he did to her,” Makadara Police Commander Judith Nyongesa said.
CCTV footage captured the last moments of Wahu’s life, showing her and Matara arriving at the apartment on January 3, 2024. With the assistance of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, authorities located Matara at Mbagathi Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for a stab wound.
The postmortem results revealed that Wahu’s cause of death was hemorrhage, resulting from a damaged blood vessel, and also indicated signs of strangulation.
