Chief Justice Martha Koome reshuffles 33 judges

Chief Justice Martha Koome on Tuesday, December 17, reshuffled 33 judges including senior High Court judges.

In a notice issued by Senior High Court Principal Magistrate Eric Ogolla, several high-ranking judges like Nixon Sifuna and Antony Mrima were affected. Judge Alfred Mabeya was moved from Nairobi to Kisumu.

The Chief Justice also transferred High Court Judge Nixon Sifuna from the Commercial Division to the Civil Division in Nairobi. Additionally, Koome transferred Judge Anthony Mrima from Kitale Court to the Civil Division in Nairobi.”Greetings from the Office of the Principal Judge This is to bring to your notice that the Hon. Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya and President of the Supreme Court has effected the following transfers as indicated in the list below,” read the notice from Principal Judge to all High Court judges.In her communique, the CJ transferred Lady Justice Roselyne Aburili from her Kisumu station to the Judicial Review Division which is located in Nairobi.

Other judges affected in the latest reshuffle include Justice Edward Muriithi who was transferred from Meru court to a court in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County.

Lady Justice Roselyne Korir who previously worked at Boemt Law Court is set to commence her work at a new station in Chuka, Meru County, Korir was transferred alongside Stella Mutuku who was transferred from Machakos to Meanwhile, Lady Justice Esther Maina was transferred from the Anti-Corruption and Crimes Division Court in Nairobi to Machakos station.

Similarly, Justices Ole Francis Odhiambo and Margaret Mungai were transferred from their Machakos station to Marsabit and the Criminal Division in Nairobi respectively.

Justices Richard Mwongo of Kerungoya and his Murang’a Counterpart James Wakianga were transferred to the Embu and the Nairobi Criminal Division in Makadara respectively.

Additionally, Lady Justices Tabitha Oyua and Rhoda Rutto were transferred from the Nairobi Civil and Commercial divisions respectively to their Murang’a and Machakos stations.
