President Uhuru Kenyatta hopes that Kilifi County Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi will get at leaset 10 years in Jail over CoronaVirus.
“I ordered Kilifi Deputy Governor’s arrest and I hope he gets 10 years in jail” President Uhuru
Uhuru was speaking on a local radio station where he termed the acts of the Deputy Governor as reckless.
“How can a leader fly from Germany and begin to infect people in Nairobi and Kilifi?” The president asked
Gideon Saburi appeared before the Chief Magistrate (CM), Edna Nyaloti, in a Mombasa Court on Monday April 6th to answer to charges against intentionally spreading the Coronavirus after refusing to self-isolate himself after a trip abroad. The prosecution asked for the DG to be remanded for 14 more days at Manyani prison pending completion of investigations.
This is after Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said on Sunday that Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi will be prosecuted after completing the 14-day forced quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus.
Mr Saburi had refused to self-isolate after arriving from Germany, which is afflicted by coronavirus, on March 7.
