KENYA'S CORONAVIRUS PATIENT ZERO~BRENDA
President Uhuru Kenyatta who spoke to the Lady and the gentleman reffered to as Brian via Video call led the country in praising the first coronavirus patient identified as Brenda saying she was brave in coming out.
“This is a moment of pride…we are proud of you Brenda…you were able to inform us all the people you were in contact with,” he said.
The recovery of the 27-year-old won who tested positive to the virus on March 13, Code named patient zero gave the country a much-awaited hope against the pandemic.
The President termed the Recovered patient’s act as Bravery,
“We are celebrating your bravery~you were able to limit your contacts and identify them and trace them~and there is no single death~you are a very wonderful and brave girl~” Uhuru said
Uhuru asked Kenyans to follow the examples of Brenda and Brian, the other coronavirus patient.
“Let us follow Brenda’s example and Brian we can contain this disease..as the two young people before us we can not only contain the disease but treat it,” he said.
“For all of us who are out there, who have these symptoms..let us behave like these people and report symptoms.. let’s stay away..let us bring ourselves forward and be treated because it is treatable, there is no stigma.” He said
In response to the rise of corona virus cases in Kenya on 15 March the government of Kenya closed all schools and directed that all public and private sector workers work from home, wherever possible. The Government also imposed travel restrictions to prevent non-residents from entry. Kenyan nationals and residents were required to self-quarantine for a minimum of fourteen days. A 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM curfew has also been declared on 27th march 2020
Kenya now has 59 cases recorded, 1 recovery, and 1 confirmed death.
