Mbita Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo has come out to disassociate herself from a Social media post that said that she has given up on her quest to ever have her own child.
Earlier on Thursday, a Facebook user bearing her full name ‘Millie Odhiambo Mabona’, claimed that she had bowed out of biologically siring a child and declaring that she was now a mother to the motherless.
The post elicited mixed reactions with some, who thought the account belonged to the legislator, empathizing with ‘her’.
It spread like bushfire on social media to an extent of causing confusion in newsrooms, and finally caught the attention of the legislator.
FACT CHECK
Upon inquiry, the legislator denounced the post:
“I have no other Facebook account other than this and I have not commented about not having a child. I want to pull a Sara at 100 years. A baby is coming at 100 years,” she posted on her genuine Facebook account, which is Millie Mabona.
The fake Facebook user that caused confusion wrote:
“Those of you who always like attacking me for not having kids kindly have accepted the will of God and moved on. I’m a mother of the motherless and I’m proud of that.”
