The ministry of defense in an advertisement on the local dailies on Tuesday, September 28, said it would be seeking to recruit plumbers, painters, cooks, welders, mechanics, and electricians.
Additional vacant positions in the recruitment exercise include cleaners, clerical officers, and safety equipment technicians. The KDF asked all the interested applicants to download application forms from the Public Service Commission website then submit the same to the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Defense, not later than October 18, 2021.
Interested and qualified persons are requested to make their applications by completing one application form PSC2 (Revised 2016) and submit the same together with copies of the required certificates,” the advertisement reads in part.
To curb the water crisis occasioned by drought in Lamu county, a barrage of KDF personnel drawn from the 5 Kenya Rifles (5KR) took part in a water distribution exercise at Witu and Pandanguo on September 8.
The team distributed over 10,000 litres of freshwater to residents and public institutions and facilities in these areas. The exercise aimed to supply residents of Lamu and surrounding areas with clean water to enable them to fight starvation.
Combating drought The exercise was conducted to supplement the government effort in combating drought by ensuring clean water for residents and livestock. The soldiers also donated facemasks to locals and governmental officers stationed in the area.
