President Uhuru Kenyatta has launched one of the biggest projects in Nakuru County ran by Devki Group’s National Cement Company (NCC). The US$58.0m (Ksh 5.8 Billion) Simba Cement Factory is one of the production units of the company and promises an estimated 700 jobs at the start with a further 300 job opportunities after its expected expansion in June 2020 bringing the total number of direct jobs to 1,000.
Addressing residents, employees, and invited guests, the president said the Government will continue to support investments that utilize local resources to create wealth and employment opportunities for Kenyans across the country.

“My administration will support value addition, extraction industries and manufacturing and we will continue supporting investments targeting the economic base of each county,” Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Factory was launched in Salgaa on Tuesday, January 28 presided by Uhuru Kenyatta, and is currently selling cement at KSh 530 a bag in Nakuru and its environs a slightly lower price from KSh 750 according to Devki Group chairman Narendra Raval. Raval said the mill has an installed processing unit with an annual production capacity of 750,000 metric tonnes while urging the government to shun clinker cement imports.
“We are gearing towards fixing the country’s clinker gap and making Kenya a regional market for raw material in cement production,” said Raval.
As part of the firm’s corporate socially responsibility (CSR), the Devki Group discloses their plan to support Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) to build a cancer centre at a cost of Ksh300 million and donated Sh100 million to KNH officials

By launching the high capacity cement factory, Devki Group’s National Cement Company (NCC) in Nakuru County, the company’s annual amalgamated production capacity totals to 2 Million tonnes.
Devki Group was founded by Narendra Raval. The Company also owns National Cement and Simba Cement grinding plant in Tororo, Uganda.
