The Kenya Rugby Union fraternity is in mourning following the death of Mwamba Rugby Club Team Manager Stephanie-Rose Otieno.
According to the Club’s statement, Stephanie died in a car crash in Nakuru County on Monday morning, just hours after the Prinsloo 7s competition, where Mwamba finished seventh following a 21-19 loss to Kabras RFC in the fifth-place play-off semi-final.
“It’s with shock and horror that we are saddened to inform you of the passing away of our Team Manager, Stephanie-Rose Otieno in a car crash in Nakuru early this morning,” the statement read in part.
Stephanie was appointed to the technical bench in 2019, joining the team managers docket overseen by the overall team manager, Fahad Adil Mohammed. She joined Alphonce Mwachia on the technical bench.
Stephanie-Rose was also the Mwamba Ladies Team Manager. Kenya Cup club Nakuru RFC was among the first to extend condolences to the family and club.
The Club said: “As the Nakuru fraternity, we pass our condolences to the Family and Friends of Stephanie Rose. This one has hit HARD. Rest In Peace.”
