Stop fooling Kenyans, Mudavadi tells Ruto

ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi has rubished the hustler watch-word urging Kenyans to instead adopt hard work narrative in order to earn a living. The one time vice president siad that glorifying poverty in the name of a hustlers’ nation is a retrogressive proposition that won’t build a prosperous nation.

Mudavadi spoke on Saturday, September 25 when he attended the burial ceremony of the late Mzee Samuel Masikonde a prominent businessman in Kisiriri village, Narok North Constituency in Narok County.

The ANC party leader and 2022 presidential aspirant maintained that for the country to grow, all Kenyans unite and work towards reviving the down-spiraling economy to create room for growth and job creation without depending on cash handouts.

Mudavadi said it is time the country’s leadership gets its priorities right making reference to the demographic trend currently in the country where at least 70 per cent of Kenya’s population consists of the youth who are either unemployed or underemployed.

“We don’t want Kenya to be a hustling nation. We want Kenya to be a thriving nation. We should not glorify the hustle and poverty. We need to sweat so that we can thrive. Tuone bei nzuri ya viazi, tuone bei nzuri ya ngano, Watoto wetu waweze kusoma. Tunataka vijana wetu na wakina mama wapate nafasi za kazi waweke pesa mfukoni. Tunataka biashara na uchumi unawiri ili wakenya waweke pesa mfukoni tupunguze mzigo wa ushuru. KRA inaandama wakenya sana tunataka tubadilishe huo mtindo. Let us have differences of ideas but we build our democracy. Persuade me that your idea is better, then I can support you. Lakini tusilete fujo, ukorofi, ukabila na mambo ambayo hayaeleweki,” Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi further called on Kenyans to ensure that peace prevails now and during the electioneering period as the 2022 elections draw near.

He was quick to point out that what Kenya experienced after the 2007 elections should not happen again.

Mudavadi urged all political competitors to place the country first before their political ambitions in order to achieve a united and prosperous country after the August 2022 general elections.

“There are a lot of young Kenyans who do not know what happened in 2007. Those of us who will be on the ballot in 2022 should maintain peace in our country. Let us not allow bloodshed in Kenya,” Mudavadi said.

Also present were Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Lugari MP Ayub Savula, Matungu MP Peter Nabulindo and ANC Secretary General Simon Kamau.
