President Uhuru Kenyatta has turned down the volume of his critics asking him to retire after the August 9 General Election.
During a stopover in Ruai, Embakasi East, on Tuesday, July 12, Uhuru said he’s not going anywhere after election.
“Tuseme Ukweli bana. Hao wengine ni wa mdomo na matusi. Sasa mimi nauliza ukiwaona kila siku wakienda kwa mkutano kazi yao ni kuongea juu ya Uhuru. Sasa wewe unaongea na Uhuru hatafuti kura. Ati wananiambia nimalize niende kwani wanafikiria nimalize niende wapi. Si nitakua hapa tu (The other are full of abuse. Everyday when they talk at rallies it is Uhuru yet I won’t be on the ballot. They are telling to finish and go, where do they thinl I’ll go. I’ll just be here),” Uhuru said amid cheers.
The president said he was not on the ballot to be the subject of Deputy President William Ruto and his allies during rallies.
He questioned where they wanted him to go after retirement, stating that he won’t go anywhere after handing over power to his preferred candidate Raila Odinga.
The Head of State on Sunday said, he still had three weeks to deal with various presidential duties including dealing with land grabbers.
At the event at Kenyatta University, the President wasn’t happy with the KU vice chancellor hardline on ceding part of the University’s land to WHO African regional operations and logistics hub.
The Vice Chancellor has since resigned.
