Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary James Wainaina Macharia has warned of immediate revocation of motor vehicle licenses breaking Covd19 Government rules. Speaking after Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi at a daily Covid-19 briefing on Sunday, April 4,2020, The CS warned of extreme legal measures since the guidelines are there to protect Kenyans from the virus.
Addressing the press on Friday, March 20, at Afya House, Nairobi, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, issued guidelines that aim at reducing congestion in public service vehicles.

“14-seater matatus will carry a maximum of eight passengers; 25-seater vehicles a maximum of 15 passengers, 30 seater vehicles and above to maintain a sixty per cent maximum of sitting capacity,” Kagwe stated.

He further said that the new guidelines issued would also extend to the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and commuter trains plying through the country every single day.

Kagwe further stated that all the public service operators were to clean and disinfect their vehicles at the end of each journey.
“To reduce the risk of transmission in our public transport systems, we encourage as much as possible that persons stay at home unless on essential business. PSV operators have already been asked to observe high levels of hygiene,” he stated.
Today, the Transport CS James Macharia warned all public transport to obey these rules to help minimize the spread of the pandemic.
