President Ruto orders his ministers to issue timelines of delivery of services to Kenyans

President William Ruto has directed his Cabinet to provide specific timelines under which his campaign pledges will be met.

Speaking at the Cabinet retreat in Nyeri county on Friday, January 6, the head of state indicated that he wanted his manifesto implemented hence the need to have a plan with timelines.

He ordered the projects to have timelines for three months, six months and one year.

“We expect timelines on our manifesto. When are you going to finish these programmes and actualise these commitments?

President William Ruto asked Cabinet Secretaries to act fast to deliver on the administration’s development programmes.  

The President said the government must deliver on its mandate with speed and efficiency. 

“We made important promises to the people of Kenya, especially those at the bottom of the economic pyramid. And we must deliver,” he said. 

“There are no excuses; we must work as a team and drive the interests of the people.”

He explained that the directives were aimed at enabling his government to attain the targets it had set for itself, even as he added that he had a contract with Kenyans.

Further, he directed his CSs to assess government programs that had been initiated by the previous administration adding that they needed to be aligned with their plan.

“You have been taken through the programme of budgeting. The next budget must reflect the priorities that we have and carry the completion of all the other programmes that are in the best interest of the people of Kenya,” he stated.

Ruto also urged his Cabinet to serve all Kenyans diligently irrespective of how they voted in the 2022 General Election.

“I expect to see CSs work beyond the villages. I expect to see the CSs in Turkana and other places. We must appreciate Kenya and what it looks like,” he stated.

On the other hand, he also announced that they had resolved to have paperless Cabinet meetings noting the advancement of technology.

“We have that agreed that from the next cabinet meeting, all our meetings will be paperless as we move to the digital space,” he stated.

The President said the Government welcomes oversight and will protect the interests and resources of the people.

He called on the CSs and PSs to be progressive and revolutionary in their approach to serving the country.

“We must not become hostages of processes and bureaucracy. Let us be defined by decisions and results.”
