A man has sparked a rare discussion online after he alleged that Kenya has lots of jobs, the only problem is that most people are dishonest and lack goodwill when entrusted with the jobs.
In a clip that has since gone viral on social media, the unidentified man says those given the jobs lack discipline and the employable character that employers would desire of them.
According to him, whenever one in Kenya gets a job, the urge for selfish personal gains and greed outdoes the responsibilities and the requirements of the particular job.
He narrated a couple of instances in which Kenyans have turned out to be a disappointment to their employers.
“There is a belief being spread that there are no jobs in Kenya. There are many jobs in this country, what lacks is the right people to work. Today buy a lorry and look for a driver, those interested in the job will show up while drunk. You give him the job and shortly after they siphon fuel, or sell the vehicle’s spares, you are left to deal with your lender,” he stated.
He added that Kenyans are typical of failing to uphold ethics and work etiquette in their places of work, always finding themselves in friction with their seniors at the workplaces.
“We must change our character and stop complaining there are no jobs. Just have good skills, be faithful and perform your duties diligently. Why are the Rwandans dominating in local barbers’ shops, does it mean Kenyans can’t work? Because when you employ a Kenyan they will fleece you in a few days,” he posed.
This comes at the backdrop of the story told by Kiss fm Presenter Jalang’o. The presenter narrated how he and close friends pulled resources to start aclub business along Baricho road only for employees to sneak in their stock and sell to the clients.
“On the CCTV, we could see tables filled and revellers enjoying themselves but the sales math could not add up the next morning” he said during his morning show with Kamene Goro
