Apostle Dr. Joe Kayo, the esteemed founder of the Deliverance Church in Kenya and Uganda, has passed away at the age of 86. Despite his age, Kayo continued to hold weekly meetings with his congregation at City Hall in Nairobi.
Known as one of the revered generals of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Kenya, his name will forever be celebrated among the servants of God. He peacefully departed on Thursday, November 2, while receiving treatment at The Nairobi Hospital.
Kayo leaves behind a loving wife, three children, and countless spiritual proteges, including Deliverance Umoja. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Joe Kayo was a man who overcame a difficult childhood filled with substance abuse and crime. Born to peasant parents in Nyamira district in 1937, he was orphaned at the age of 12 and dropped out of school due to a lack of funds.
However, his life changed when he was hospitalized in Mombasa in 1957 and attended a crusade by televangelist T.L. Osborn.
After accepting salvation and being healed, Kayo heard God’s voice telling him to preach the gospel. He established two congregations in Mombasa and Kilifi and later pioneered the Pentecostal faith in Kampala, Uganda.
